NEXT COURSE DATES- 18th, 19th and 20TH MAY 2012- THIS  COURSE IS FULL

OCTOBER 12TH,13TH & 14TH COURSE- THIS COURSE IS FULL- please contact us if you are interested in applying as we are running a reserve list for October in case any of the participants are unable to attend.  We will be posting 2013 course dates shortly.

The Equipilates™ Teacher Training course has been developed to meet the high demand around the UK and beyond from clients and Pilates professionals, to improve their own/their pupils' performance using Lindsay's specific approach.  It is structured to improve skills in static/dynamic postural analysis and sport specific application of Pilates principles and exercise programmes for the huge numbers of riders wishing to improve alignment, stability and flexibility.  These courses are a must for any Pilates teacher, health or medical professional looking for a real understanding of the riders needs, how to assess functional flexibility and practical, straightforward tools for improving their clients' performance.

You are eligible to register for studio Equipilates™ Teacher Training workshops if you are:

  • a Level 3 Pilates Teacher
  • a physiotherapist
  • hold an appropriate qualification and insurance for movement/physical therapy (contact us with your details)

On successful completion of the course and two case studies (to be submitted a maximum of 8 weeks after the course), students will be entitled to advertise as as an Equipilates™ approved instructor.  There is a register of approved instructors detailed on the Equipilates™ website- in order remain on the register it is necessary to attend a yearly half day seminar to update on the latest techniques.

Teachers who have completed the basic course are able to attend the Advanced Workshops, covering skills for improving alignment and performance working with horse and rider together, more in depth movement diagnostics and training techniques.

If you would like more details including the 3 day syllabus, please contact us.

PLEASE NOTE this course is NOT a pure Pilates teacher training course certified with CYQ, which is what gives you entry to REPs as a Level 3 Pilates Teacher.  It does not give you a qualification to teach Pilates, so if you do not already hold a Pilates teaching qualification you must not advertise yourself as a Pilates teacher, or teach classes advertised as Pilates. What this course covers is alignment and movement therapy  exercises of particular use to riders, which will involve some pure Pilates exercises but by no means the whole repertoire, and also a lot of additional movements not found in Pilates. Applying the principles of Pilates and the biomechanical knowledge of how the rider's body needs to function is covered in depth.

FEEDBACK FROM ONE OF OUR REGISTERED TRAINERS

'Thank you very much for organising the Teacher Training Course- I admit that I was just expecting to be taken through some Pilates exercises suitable for riders so it was a pleasant surprise to cover such a varied and interesting curriculum with so many good ideas.  I've truly been inspired to teach this topic again and that's thanks to you.  As I said, you're one of those rare little oases of good sense and, importantly and so often missing in this area, compassion.  So thank you and I will strive to be an excellent ambassador for Equipilates™!

We also offer courses for professional riding instructors wishing to learn about horse and rider biomechanics in a practical and approachable way.  Many clients' progress can be severely limited by postural imbalance and lack of awareness of how to make changes.  Learn how to analyse and what, when and how to cue your clients for position corrections.  Gaining a thorough understanding of the rider's functional anatomy will enable you to make considerable improvements to their performance, the horse's way of going and 'self' carriage' of the partnership with a whole new 'box of tools'.   Workshops covering specific topics will teach you to look beyond surface level in order to help your clients make more effective and long lasting changes.   The Equipilates™ for Horses workshops enable you to communicate classical training principles with clarity and empathy, rapidly increasing your clients' awareness, skill base and feel, with total respect for the horse.
